Alberto Bracchini is 2nd generation in a proud tradition of sausage makers. From his little slaughterhouse, some of Umbria’s very best charcuterie is produced.
Being independent – no matter where in the world you are, has never been a warranty for a 37-hour work week – six weeks of vacation and paid sick days. And certainly not for Alberto Bracchini, despite the fact that his many different salams, prosciutto, lardo and salciccier, are to be found in several restaurants and he has a large group of regular customers who come every week to his door for to take care of the many, …
If you love the Roman cuisine, Trattoria Roma ‘ntica is definitely the place to visit when in Umbria. Here, just outside Perugia, the taste and feeling of Rome will sneak under your skin – and certainly not by chance.
The Bocca del Verita or the mouth of truth, as it is named in English, became world famous when Audrey Hepburn in 1953 had her big breakthrough in the Oscar-winning performance as Princess Anne, taking a day off from official duties and discovering Rome. Since then, Bocca del Verita has been one of the very big main attractions in Rome – and today you …

Actually, 24-year-old Francesco Capaccioni is a trained radiographer. For four years, he studied so that he could learn to take x-rays, make ultrasound scans and perform CT and MR scan of patients. But since he got a small digital camera as a present for his exam and subsequently began exploring his home region, Umbria, there …
Antonello Monni is the third generation in a family-run company that has produced amazing sheep cheese for decades. And while the young man loves to experiment and be creative, he still protects the old traditions of cheese making.
30-year-old Antonello Monni is literally in cheese to up his elbows from monday to sunday – every single week and month – all year round. Even though the story of a small local cheese producer might sound a little romantic – and although Antonello has undoubtedly found his calling – making cheese is hard work, not a romantic fairytale.

There is not a city, not a village in Italy, that does not have at least one festival a year. In fact, most have many more!
In Italy you will encounter celebration of just about everything. The chestnut, the truffle, the wine, the Virgin Mary, Saint Francis, Italy’s merging, chocolate (!), an ancient war hero, everything between heaven and earth is celebrated and often has its own festival. And it is not a rare sight that these festivals last three, five even eight days. Because festivals or “sagra” as the Italians call then as made to show the outside world that here is …
Dark, red tomatoes in a pile. Peppers in the size of handballs. Deep purple eggplant that shine as they were polished with car wax. Onions in all the colors and sizes of the world. Small chilies. Huge watermelons. Dark and light green squash.
Oh yes we have arrived at the food market in Italy. And trust me when I say that the goods here exceed everything you’ve seen before. Because this is where the Italians buy their food – and when you talk about food in Italy, you do not compromise on neither price or quality!
Buying food in Italy can in principle …
